What We Do

The Angry Tias & Abuelas feed the hungry, visit the imprisoned and comfort the grieving people stranded by U.S immigration policy at the U.S southern border. We set up free stores (tiendas} in the Matamoros migrant camp to supply essential items like diapers, and cooking utensils for families who have been sleeping in tents on the bare ground for months.

Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, while our work is being done remotely, we are communicating on a day-to-day basis with residents of the camp to make sure their needs are met. We are also involved in helping migrants arriving to Reynosa, needing help while waiting to enter the U.S.

As important as providing for physical needs, the Angry Tias & Abuelas collaborate with dozens of other NGOs to affect immigration policy, provide legal counsel and respond to daily national and international press requests in order to keep the plight of asylum seekers before the American public.
