Adopt-an-Asylum Seeker program

Angry Tias and Abuelas has started an ‘Adopt an Asylum Seeker’ project.  This involves simply writing letters and becoming a pen pal, or it can be done via e-mail and a messaging system. The project is an attempt to lift the morale of those in long-term detention facilities in our area.  Volunteers can be matched up with people who speak English, Spanish or French.  We would try to match those with other language abilities as well. It’s so easy to stay in touch - all that’s needed is an e-mail address, and then a messaging system can be used - cost is 25c per message.  One can even schedule a video visit!

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Angry Tias and Abuelas are currently working remotely.  The only volunteer opportunity we currently have available is with the Detained Asylum Seekers Assistance – Adopt an Asylum Seeker program.
