Matamoros camp update: COVID19 global pandemic
The threat of Coronavirus is being taken very seriously in the refugee camp of Matamoros, as in other parts of the world. To avert the possibility of volunteers transmitting the virus to those in the camp, Angry Tias and Abuelas is following the guidance of Global Response Management and the Mexican federal authorities by no longer going into the camp. We are currently working to provide supplies to last for at least the next several weeks, and are keeping in touch with many of the residents of the camp to respond to needs as best we can remotely. Global Response Management, the medical unit operating in the camp, is doing Covid-19 planning and preparation. We are holding our collective breaths. We plan to ramp up volunteer efforts once the coast clears. Thank you for keeping the refugees at our southern border in your minds and hearts. And please shelter in place as best you can to flatten the curve.
Your financial contributions will help us keep the camp supplied through this crisis.
