Cindy Candia has spent more time at the Matamoros encampment than any other Tia, building relationships with many of the refugees there.  She is the key contact for asylum seekers who manage the free stores established by Angry Tias and Abuelas. Cindy makes regular multi-cart shopping trips with other volunteers to stock the free stores with items such as diapers, soap, plastic sheeting to cover tents, and much-needed cold weather clothing.  As our Tia-on-the-ground, Cindy brings issues or problems she has learned about at the encampment to the attention of the rest of the entire group. Cindy also accompanies visitors to the encampment to spread awareness of inhumane conditions there.
